New Title

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word is on Sundays during Mass

Father or Deacon invites preschool aged - 2nd grade children (who are able to leave their parents) to come up to the front of the church, to share in the Good News with a trained volunteer and assistant into the parish hall. The children learn about God by praying together, hearing and discussing the Sunday gospel message, along with doing an activity that is age appropriate. After the homily they return to mass for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Our littlest children (under preschool age) are welcome to play in the vestibule of our church., while being supervised by an adult. We have age appropriate books and toys. God bless your family!

Who provides the Liturgy and activities?

People like you! Children’s Liturgy is provided by parish volunteers who are required to have a background check and to attend Called to Protect Training provided by the Archdiocese of Portland.

Can I be a Liturgy of the Word volunteer?

Yes. If you are interested in being a volunteer, please email Sacha Etzel at dre@immacstayton.org or call the parish office at (503) 769-2656. We appreciate our volunteers!
